Sharp Packaging Systems is a nationwide, innovative manufacturer of quality, flexible packaging solutions, including film, bags and packaging machinery systems. Opening our doors in 1984, we have steadily built a successful business and reputation on the foundation of unwavering commitment to integrity in all our business dealings. Sharp designs, develops and manufactures printed and plain flexible packaging and packaging machinery in-house at our Headquarters campus in Sussex, WI and southwest expansion facilities outside of Phoenix, AZ. Headquartered near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sharp Packaging serves the electronics, pharmaceutical, mail order, select produce, medical components, hobby/craft, automotive and hardware industries; among others. Custom made E-Z Bags®, one of Sharp's dominant product categories; are plain and printed, pre-opened bags on a continuous roll, for use on Sharp's patented, packaging systems as well as other second-tier equipment brands. Manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic systems are designed and built onsite, allowing Sharp to tailor complete systems for customers across most industries. Sharp's system design team focuses on "open-platform" construction, utilizing as many non-proprietary, "off the shelf" parts as possible; for ease of use, integration with ancillary equipment and maintenance. Sharp extrudes, prints and converts the vast majority of poly products sold and offers a wide array of standard and custom materials for special applications. Sharp is growing into one of the most respected manufacturers of pre-opened bags on a roll, poly film and packaging machinery in North America. Sharp Packaging Systems and ISO 9001:2000ISO 9001:2000 is a defined Quality Management System that is used world-wide among various manufacturing and service organizations. ISO 9001:2000 standards provide focus on the customer, on the process, on the supplier and continual improvement concepts. The standards are used for guidance in the development of the quality system used at Sharp Packaging Systems. Quality management is "identifying, understanding and managing interrelated processes as a system contributes to the organization's effectiveness and efficiency in achieving its objectives". Our Quality Manual, which encompasses all departments at Sharp Packaging Systems, is designed on the precepts of ISO 9001:2000 and we comply with this guideline. There are eight sections in our Quality Manual. The sections one through three define the Quality Manual, Scope and Quality Policy. Section four defines the Quality Management System. Section five clarifies Management Responsibilities. Section six establishes Resource Management (human, facility and environment). Section seven defines how product grows from a customer's request to being stored and shipped. Section eight involves measuring and maintaining product and process, continuous improvement and corrective and preventive action. To have the management system and compliance to the management system, approved for ISO 9001:2000, we were audited by an ISO 9001:2000 approved registrar. Our registrar is Det Norske Veritas (DnV), an internationally recognized registrar of quality management systems. Every 6 months DnV provides a third-party audit of Sharp's Quality Management System to ensure that changes are in an approved direction and is compliant throughout the firm. All areas of sales, design control, manufacturing, purchasing, maintenance, human resources and accounting are included in the Quality Management System. This assures that all departments are functioning in concert with the same single management direction. The documentation, records and data are controlled and maintained for a tool of continuous improvement in the process and procedures which affect the product and customer satisfaction. ISO 9001:2000 is the foundation of the quality program at Sharp Packaging Systems. It requires product improvement, customer focus and continuous improvement in all areas of operation. But Sharp Packaging Systems does not intend to rest at this point. The foundation has been laid down and the framework is starting to be built. Based on Six Sigma and other concepts such as Total Quality Management, we intend to improve in all areas of processing, manufacturing integrity and management principles. We are not satisfied in achieving the first step of Quality Improvement but intend to proceed with Continuous Improvement. While most of industry is satisfied with corrective action, we are proceeding with preventive action. While most of industry is satisfied with maintaining their specifications, we are proceeding with understanding customer specifications and improving our ability to meet those specifications.
